How It Works

01 — Initial Conversation

Before the day, we will have a brief call to understand your property search, priorities, and must-haves. Are you looking for something to renovate? A plot with extension potential? A period home with character? The more we know, the more targeted our assessment will be.
02 — On-Site Property Visits

On the day, your architect joins you at each property and carries out a thorough walkthrough. We assess the layout, natural light, materials, and existing condition, giving you a clear picture of what you are actually looking at, not just what has been staged for photographs.
03 — Planning & Potential Assessment

We will explore the development potential of each property, what extensions, loft conversions, or internal reconfigurations may be feasible, and whether any planning constraints, permitted development limitations, or listed building status could affect your plans.
04 — Honest On-the-Spot Advice

No jargon, no sugarcoating. Throughout each visit we will talk you through our observations in plain language, flagging areas of concern, highlighting opportunities, and helping you understand the realistic scope and cost of any works you might be considering.
05 — Comparison & Prioritisation

If you are weighing up more than one property, we will help you compare them side by side, looking beyond asking price to the true value and potential of each option. Sometimes the property that needs the most work represents the best long-term investment. We will help you see that clearly.
06 — Written Visit Summary

Following the day, you will receive an email with feedback for each property visited, to assist you as you move through the buying process. This covers key observations, identified risks, development potential, and our overall recommendation, a useful reference as you move through the buying process.

About Us

FRESH Architects is jointly owned by George and Maria, both fully qualified, ARB registered Architects based in Worthing, West Sussex.

George has been working in the industry since 2014 and qualified after getting his Bachelors degree from Oxford Brookes followed by his Masters degree from Portsmouth University. George won the Gavin Gray award for collaboration in his Masters and was nominated for the RIBA Presidents Medal for his design. He has experience delivering a wide range of projects and enjoys working closely with clients to make their dreams become a reality.

Maria qualified as an Architect in Madrid in 2014. Before leaving Spain she published a book investigating the qualities of good design and has since worked for several large UK practices. During her career she has developed a broad range of experience in the residential sector, where she has also gained heritage experience and worked with listed buildings. She enjoys working closely with clients, builders and contractors.

This depends on the location and distance between properties, but typically we can comfortably visit three properties in a single day. We would discuss the planned itinerary with you beforehand to make sure we use the time as effectively as possible.
No — and it is important to be clear on that. Our architectural assessment is focused on design potential, planning considerations, layout feasibility, and general condition from an architect's perspective. It is not a structural or homebuyer's survey and should not be used as a substitute for one. However, we will flag anything that warrants further investigation, which can help you decide whether to proceed to a formal survey in the first place.
We are based in Worthing and primarily serve Sussex and Surrey, including Brighton & Hove, East Preston, Shoreham-by-Sea, Horsham, and Guildford. If you are searching for properties outside of these areas, please get in touch — we are always open to discussing new locations.
You will be accompanied by an experienced member of our team. This is a personal, senior-level service from start to finish.
We recommend at least one week's notice to ensure availability and give us time for a proper briefing call beforehand. That said, if you are in a time-sensitive situation, do contact us directly — we will always try our best to accommodate urgent requests.
Yes, and this is something many of our clients choose to do. If you purchase a property and decide to extend, renovate, or reconfigure it, we can continue as your architect through the full design and planning process. Having already visited the property together, we will hit the ground running with a thorough understanding of both the building and your vision for it.
